IAAF World Championships - Paris

Kim Collins is the new 100m world champion after winning a thrilling final in Paris. In a desperately tight finish, the St Kitts and Nevis star claimed his first world title in a time of 10.07 seconds

As part of their live coverage of this years IAAF World Championships SFP are using three D-Cam wireless camera systems , supplied by specialist rental company, Broadcast RF

Broadcast RF is also supplying two D-Cam's to ACF - France. One will be used to transmit live images from their 'Speedcam', a track based camera system used for athletics. The other will be used to provide aerial images from their 'CamCat', a gyro-stabilised camera that is suspended across the roof of the Stade de France using cables.

Alléz Maurice!
The 'Jeux des Iles de l'Océan Indien 2003
' (Indian Ocean Games) open today in Mauritius, with a D-Cam wireless camera playing an important role in the opening ceremony. All over the Island signs have been appearing with the words "Allez Maurice" (Come on Mauritius).
Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation have recently taken delivery of two new OB Trucks, supplied by Sony Broadcast. The new OB trucks includes a D-Cam digital wireless camera system, one of which will be used to film the President, as he opens the Games In the right-hand photograph, Sony Project Manager, Ian Davis, and Gigawave Business Development Manager, Raj Kotecha, are seen with the MBC cameraman (holding the D-Cam), outside the Anjalay Stadium.

In a separate contract, Gigawave supplied three analogue MVL point-to-point links to Multi Carrier (Mauritius) Limited. These will be used to relay the signals from the Anjalay Stadium to the MBC studios.

World Student Games - South Korea
The spectacular opening ceremony
or the World Student Games in Daegu was covered live using four D-Cam wireless camera systems. This is the first time that digital wireless camera systems have been used in South Korea.
As with the World Swimming Championships, the host broadcasters have made extensive use of the D-Cam for live coverage of the swimming events, where the use of triax cameras on the poolside is not permitted for safety reasons. Two D-Cams, one mounted on a Steadicam, are used to cover the start and finis, as well as the medal ceremony.
Wave Communications, Gigawave's Agent in South Korea, supplied two D-Cams, with Australian rental company, BnC providing a further two systems. All four D-Cams are available to the host broadcasters Korean Broadcasting System (KBS), MBC, and SBS

Digital Challenge in Egypt
Cairo Comm. Systems (CCS) has recently supplied and installed six D-Cam wireless cameras as part of a challenging Outside Broadcast project that includes the latest Gigawave digital re-broadcasting system
The project requires the SDI output from six Sony digital cameras to be received in a main control room over 40 kilometers away. To achieve this each camera is ‘docked’ with a D-Cam transmitter, incorporating a 4 dBi omni-directional antenna. Signals from the D-Cam are transmitted to a vehicle mounted, Gigawave ‘Rebro’ unit, which automatically re-transmits the signal, without additional delay, 24 kilometers to the main Control Room.

The vehicle mounted ‘Rebro’ units provides additional flexibility and extends the operational range of the D-Cam wireless cameras. The vehicles are equipped with 7 dBi collinear antennas, which do not need to be tracked in any way

Mast mounted 7 dBi Collinear (or optional 14 dBi Helix) antennas feed the signal into a MVL-D RF Heads at the final receive point. In the main control room, the SDI output from the MVL-D control units is fed directly into the latest Sony digital servers and editing suites where it is processed before being broadcast to the customer.

This challenging project, directed by Cairo Comm. Systems (CCS), is the first of its kind in the Middle East. Thanks to the exceptional RF performance of Gigawave digital microwave links the system supplied by CSS to the Egyptian Government easily exceeds all contractual requirements.
