Gigawave Engineers Define the Future of
High-Definition Wireless Camera Systems

Introducing the D-Cam HD 'Clip-on'
The new Gigawave D-Cam 'Clip-on' high definition camera system is poised to redefine the standards of HD wireless camera systems.

Tests carried out by Gigawave engineers this week have clearly demonstrated the superior performance of the new D-Cam HD 'Clip-on' wireless camera system.

The big question that everyone is asking is, "What's the difference between the standard D-Cam 'Clip-on' and the new HD version?". Well, apart from stunning HD images, the answer is, "Not a lot!".

Externally, the D-Cam HD 'Clip-on' is identical to the SD 'Clip-on'. It is the same size and weight, has the same controls and, more important, offers the same performance and reliability as the SD 'Clip-on'. The only real differecne is that the HD version is more efficient, In terms of power consumption, than the standard SD version.

Existing customers, who wish to, will soon be able to upgrade their D-Cam SD 'Clip-on' wireless camera systems to the latest HD specification.

SNRT Engineers Visit Gigawave
A team of engineers from Moroccan State broadcaster, Societe Nationale de Radiodiffusion et de Television (SNRT) visited the Gigawave Technical Centre recently to conduct factory acceptance tests on ten 7GHz MVL-D2 microwave links.
Formerly known as Radio Television Maroc (RTM), the Company purchased their first MVL-D2 portable point to point links back in March 2005. As with the original MVL-D2 links the new links will be used to cover a large number of outside broadcast events in and around Rabat, including Sporting events, Royal occassions, and Friday prayers.

The MVL-D2 microwave links were supplied to SNTV by Gigawave's Moroccan Agent, Studiotech.

Nostalgic Visit for ERTU Engineer
Recently, a group of three engineers from the Egyptian Radio & Television Union traveled to the Gigawave Factory to undertake 'Factory Acceptance' tests on the MVL-D2 product range.
The visit was a nostalgic one for Engineer Mrs Wafaa, who had previously visited the old Gigawave Factory to carry out acceptance tests on a number of analogue MVL Series Point to Point Systems purchased by ERTU, more than 8 years ago

Gigawave won the tender to supply 4 x MVL-D2 Digital Point to Point Systems equipped with combiners earlier this year. This particular purchase is in addition to the 6 x MVL-D2 systems purchased by ERTU last year, bringing the total number of MVL-D2 systems purchased by ERTU to ten.
The three ERTU personnel, Engineer Mrs Wa faa, Engineer Mr. Mostafa & Mr. Raa fat inspected all the equipment and also witnessed a live demonstration using their own equipment. Thankfully the rain held off. However the three ERTU engineers were each given one of the famous blue Gigawave Jackets as a precaution.

On their departure, Gigawave's Chairman, Mr . Henry Barczynski personally presented Mrs Waffaa with a small gift. Next month, as part of the same tender, Gigawave will welcome a second group of ERTU engineers. This time they will be attending a Gigawave 'Factory Training' course.

SVT Chooses D-Cam for European Athletics
The host broadcaster, SVT (Swedish National Television), are using a total of 12 D-Cam wireless camera systems for their live coverage of this year’s European Athletics Championships from the Ullevi Stadium in Göteborg.
For this prestigious event, SVT rented five low-delay D-Cam wireless camera systems with full Diversity from YLE (Finland). Specialist rental company, Broadcast RF (UK) supplied a further four low-delay systems using Diversity Control Units (but with only one RF Head (BRF). Prisma (Sweden) supplied the remaining three systems.

One of the most impressive aspects of this event is that all 12 D-Cam wireless camera systems are all operating with full camera control in the Ullevi Stadium. In addition, seven D-Cam systems are being used in conjunction with Steadycams. It is believed that this is the first time that so many wireless cameras have been used in this way.
SVT are using a number of the D-Cam wireless camera systems are operating in 64 QAM whilst the remainder are in 16QAM. SVT also have one D-Cam transmitter mounted onto a 'Wire Cam' that runs alongside the last 100 metres of track, up to the finish line.

As part of Gigawave's 'Global Support Programme', Regional Sales Manager Raj Kotecha and Customer Support Engineer, Raymond Kirkland, flew out to assist SVT engineers with the setting up of the 12 D-Cam wireless camera systems.
