Kristensen claims Le Mans record
A Danish driver, Tom Kristensen, broke Jackie Ickx's record and claimed a place in motorsport history after winning his seventh 24 Heures du Mans race.
With considerable interest in the outcome of this years race back home, Danish broadcaster,TV2, broadcast the entire race live using two D-Cam wireless camera systems for pit-lane coverage and paddock interviews.

The D-Cam wireless camera systems were provided by Leo Jensen's company, LJ Electronic. Using three diversity receivers TV2 achieved 100 % coverage of the pit-lane and paddock throughout their 25 hour live transmission.
Commenting afterwards, Kristensen was understandably delighted with his team's achievement.

"Brilliant. It was a great race. I 'm so happy to be the record holder, to have been part of a fantastic victory."

G77 Summit - Qatar
Specialist facilities company, TWS, provided SMART GLOBAL, a local facilities company based in Qatar with four fully rackable D-Cam wireless camera systems for the live coverage of the 'Group of 77 and China Second South Summit Conference'. The event, one of the most important of its kind, was held in Doha, from 12th-16th June.
As the largest Third World coalition in the United Nations, the Group of 77 provides a means by which the developing world can articulate and promote its collective views on all major international economic issues. It also serves to promote economic and technical co-operation among developing countries

Qatar Television required four wireless cameras inside the conference centre to cover the arrival of the His Royal Highness the Emir of Qatar and the conference delegates. It was also necessary for the four wireless cameras to cover press conferences held in various rooms within the main conference building.
Using two receive locations per camera it was possible for Qatar TV cameramen to cover most of the building. However, a 'Diversity' receiver enabled one of the cameras to provide uninterrupted coverage of the Emir as he entered the venue, greeted the conference delegates and proceeded through the building to the main auditorium.
As space within the Qatar TV OB truck was very limited, TWS used their 'fly-away' RF control and monitoring rack .

"Having our own monitoring equipment allows us to ensure that images we provide the client with are of the highest quality, without the need to be located inside the busy, and often cramped, OB Truck. It also means that we are in a better position to co-ordinate the deployment of the wireless cameras and other technical resources. AIn most instances we find that the client is more than happy just to receive stable genlocked video signals.”

Broadcast Asia "Very Encouraging"
John Rolfe, back in the UK after attending Broadcast Asia for the first time since being appointed Gigawave's Sales and Marketing Director, was obviously encouraged by the level of prospective business in the region...

"We have made a lot of new contacts during the show. The D-Cam wireless camera system with diversity receiver was of particular interest to visitors, especially as we had a live demonstration on the stand." - John Rolfe

Both John Rolfe and Far East Regional Sales Manager, Gareth James, were particularly impressed by the quality of visitors to the stand and the level of new enquiries. The big job now is for the Gigawave Sales Team in both the UK, and Hong Kong Offices, to follow up specific sales prospects, and other enquiries, as quickly as possible.

Gigawave plan to enter two Ferrari 360 cars, race prepared by Ferrari specialists, Damax, in all nine races, this season. Car #15 is driven by Attard/Adams and Car #16 by Smythe/Hulford. Both cars will carry a Gigawave digital on-board camera system as standard.

Images from each of the on-board camera systems are received in an OB Truck, which is normally parked in a central location, relative to the circuit. The OB Truck is equipped with a large pump-up mast, on which is mounted the receive antennas and RF 'Head' units for the 'Diversity' receive system. Inside the truck the images from both cars are recorded for later evaluation.
