| Bullish Luck Wins Asian Mile Challenge Hong Kong-trained 'Bullish Luck' ridden by Australian jockey, Brett Prebble, demolished some of the best Asian milers to win the US$2.48 million 'Yasuda Kinen' and, in doing so, this season's US$1 million 'Asian Mile Challenge'
In total the Asian Mile Challenge is worth around US$12.6 million in prize money and bonuses. Having beaten his stablemate, the fabled sprinter 'Silent Witness', to win the US$1.03 million 'Champions Mile' at Sha Tin in Hong Kong, 'Bullish Luck' earned himself a US$1 million bonus. 'Bullish Luck' was the only horse to contest three of the four 'Asian Mile Challenge' Races As part of the live coverage of this year's 'Yasuda Kinen' race in Tokyo the Hong Kong Jockey Club took along their D-Cam 'Clip-on' Wireless Camera Systems. The two 'Clip-on' systems were used to cover the parade ring and the winner's enclosure. The Asian Mile Challenge was created in a joint venture between the HKJC and the Japan Racing Association last year, with 'Bullish Luck' its inaugural winner. This year, both the Melbourne Racing Club and Dubai Racing Club came on board, expanding the series to four races, with Bullish Luck winning the overall series once more. "This will absolutely be the making of the Asian Mile Challenge," said Mark Player, the Hong Kong Jockey Club's international racing manager. "It's the best possible advertisement for the series and shows everyone exactly what is possible." Tokyo Racecourse, Japan - June 2006 |
