Digital On-board Camera System a Winner
Gigawave engineers have recently tested a new digital on-board camera transmission system, using 64QAM and 16QAM, modulation under simulated race conditions.
The new system, which uses Gigawave's special 'Diversity' receiver requires only one ground-based receive point and offers both quality and reliability, without the need for an expensive helicopter mid-point relay.

Olympian Parade
Thousands of people lined the streets of central London today to pay tribute to Britain's Olympic stars as they took part in a parade to celebrate their performance in the Athens games.
Fans waved flags and cheered as more than 100 medallists from the 2004 Olympics and Paralympics went past on floats in scenes reminiscent of the England rugby team's World Cup victory parade last December. Both ITN and Sky News covered the parade, which ended in London's Trafalgar Square, using D-Cam 'Clip-on' wireless camera systems.
In an interview, double gold medallist, Kelly Holmes commented, "It is a really special moment, not just for myself but also for all the other sports stars who did so well. I have reached the pinnacle of my career."

Rossi Wins at Philip Island to Clinch Title
Valentino Rossi took victory in the 'Cinzano Australian Grand Prix' to claim the MotoGP World Championship for the fourth year in a row.
Rossi only needed to finish second at Phillip Island to clinch the Tile, but, in a daring passing move, he overtook rival Sete Gibernau on the last lap to take the chequered flag. Viewers watching the race were able to enjoy gripping on-board coverage from both Rossi and Gibernau thanks to the a sophisticated on-board system developed by Gigawave for MotoGP rights holders, Dorna.

Rossi completed an amazing first season with the 'Gauloises Fortuna Yamaha' team after a controversial switch from their great rivals Honda at the end of last year with an exciting victory over Sete Gibernau, his only remaining title challenger.

Accompanying Rossi on the winners podium for the eighth time this season was a D-Cam 'Clip-on' wireless camera system. Like Rossi, the D-Cam 'Clip-on' systems used by Dorna for their live coverage of MotoGP have also had an amazing first season. No doubt the Gigawave engineers responsible will be enjoying a well earned glass or two of bubbly.

Brussels Marathon HD Test
Alfacam, one of the leading providers of HD production facilities in Europe, used their latest truck, OB21, to provide high-definition coverage of this year's ING Brussels Marathon. Waiting at the finish line was a D-Cam wireless camera system.
Belgium based, Alfacam operates all over the world and it is rare for them to have an event in their own country. Taking advantage of being close to home, Alfacam Engineers carried out a special test, using an upgraded D-Cam wireless camera system, to provide the programme's director with HD images of the runners as they crossed the finish line.

The images were transmitted using 64QAM modulation and received using Gigawave's latest 'Diversity' system, recently launched at IBC. Operating in the old part of the City, without line of sight, the camera still had an operational range that far exceeded everyone's expectations. Such was the robustness of the picture that it was even possible for the cameraman to film inside a city centre bar.

Commenting on the test, Jan Veldeman of Alfacam said, "The video quality of the images in OB21 was exceptional!"
