CCTV puts Olympic Torch on top of the world
Gigawave is extremely proud and privileged to have had the opportunity to support CCTV with their ambitious and highly successful live broadcast of the Olympic Torch being carried to the top of Mount Everest.

Gigawave links welcome Olympic Torch back to China
Following its high profile world tour, the Olympic Torch touched down in Hong Kong on its return to China prior to this summer’s Games in Beijing. It was an event, which has massive media interest so leading broadcasters opted for Gigawave’s wireless links to provide flawless coverage.
The Torch passed by many of Hong Kong’s landmarks giving locals the chance to see the iconic Olympic flame. It was carried by local dignitaries including, athletes Lee Lai Shan and Wong Kam Po and singer Jacky Cheung. The bearers carried the torch on foot, in a wheelchair, on horseback, and on a traditional dragon boat while completing the route.

Gigawave’s HD links beamed into China
Gigawave’s latest high-definition portable link, the MVL-HD2 has been shipped out to several customers in China in preparation for the forthcoming Olympic Games which will take place in Beijing this August.
 
The MVL-HD2 features Gigawave’s latest HD/SD encoding and decoding facilities complete with DVB/S2 modulation techniques.

Prior to shipment, the high data rate HD links were put through strenuous tests by Gigawave’s engineers, these tests included long distance transmission up to 100km.

HD On-boards pass track test
Gigawave’s development of On-board cameras has added a new dimension to race coverage, providing the most spectacular live racing shots from around the circuit. The natural progression for the On-board Camera, after its switch to digital, is to now go HD.
Gigawave, who supply On-board systems to leading worldwide race series including MotoGP have been developing a high-definition system, which will be used in the 2008 FIA GT Championship. This system was successfully tested onboard the Gigawave MotorSport Aston Martin DBR9 at Snetterton Circuit in preparation for the season opener on 20th April at Silverstone.

European Tour Golf goes HD with Gigawave
The recent round of the European Tour Golf, the Mapfre Open de Andalucia was screened in full high-definition, using Gigawave’s HD D-Cam’s supplied by CTV.
The HD Digital Wireless Camera Systems were used around the Aloha Golf Club in Spain providing full course coverage for the live broadcast. The HD D-Cam’s run as part of CTV’s state-of-the-art HD production vehicle, which will follow the Tour throughout the season.

Gigawave and CCTV gear up for the Olympics
Gigawave has supplied China state broadcaster CCTV with its latest High Definition portable higher power transmission and diversity receive systems.
In the continued relationship with CCTV, Gigawave provided on-site training for all key CCTV operational and engineering staff in preparation for their Olympic coverage.

MotoGP lights up the desert
MotoGP Champion Casey Stoner kicked off his title defence in perfect style by recording a comfortable victory in the dark of the night race in Qatar.
The Ducati rider was too strong for Spanish duo, Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa who joined the Australian on the podium at the season’s opening race.
