Transmit Module
With identical performance to 'dockable' D-Cam, the transmitter simply clips onto the camera’s battery adaptor plate. In turn, the batteryclips onto the D-Cam 'Clip-on' transmitter module, transforming a standard news-gathering camcorder into a digital wireless camera!
Stand-alone Operation
For news gathering applications from adverse RF environments, it is also possible to use the D-Cam 'Clip-on' as a stand-alone unit, linked to the camera with just video and audio cables. This gives camera crews the freedom to provide live images from deep inside buildings and other difficult locations.
MPEG 2compression
The D-Cam 'Clip-on' is supplied with an internal MPEG 2 encoder
DVB-T COFDM Modulator
The COFDM modulator can be switched using the external 'menu style' contol panel to operate in QPSK, 16QAM and 64QAM modes, whilst the demodulator in the matching MVL-D2 receiver automatically 'senses' the operating mode.
Optimised RF Performance
Gigawave engineers have completely redesigned the linear up/down converters, IF/RF amplifiers, and power amplifiers that are essential for the higher orders of modulation, such as 64QAM. This has resulted in exceptional performance from a low power (100mW) transmitter.
Diversity of Reception
The superior RF performance of the D-Cam 'Clip-on' system (which incorporates a MVL-D2 receiver) requires only a single receive point with Fanbeam antenna for most applications. However, multiple receive point systems are available for specialist applications.
Audio and Video Inputs
The D-Cam 'Clip-on' accepts composite video via an external connector. It also accepts analogue audio (mic/line switchable) via external connectors.
