Product Features
Since its introduction in 1995, the analogue MVL-Series and digital MVL-D Series has become the industry standard for portable point to point microwave links, with several hundred systems in service around the world. The new MVL-D2 Series has now been redesigned to incorporate a host of new features.
SDI, ASI, YUV, Analogue Composite In/Out
MVL-D2 digital links are capable of processing analogue composite, YUV, and 270Mbps SDI signals plus ASI transport streams. These input
directly into the front panel of the
'IF Control' unit and are compressed internally using either MPEG 2 or 'Wavelets' compression. The MVL-D2 also offers 64QAM, 16QAM, and QPSK COFDM modulation, as well as exceptional RF performance.
Unique modular design
The 'plug-in' encoder and modulator modules can easily be changed on-site to meet operational requirement, or upgraded as new compression techniques evolve, thanks to the unique modular design of all Gigawave digital microwave links.
Virtually Indestructible
Virtually Indestructible - RF head units and IF control units are milled from
solid aluminium blocks rather than being constructed from individual panels.
Even when severely damaged the structural integrity of the box remains intact
and the waterproof seals are not compromised.
Direct Docking System
The innovative Gigawave modular direct docking system allows simplex, duplex,
and diplex configurations to be easily assembled, without the use of any
tools. A comprehensive range of antennas, including parabolas, helices, horns,
and high gain flat patch antennas, can be directly attached without the need
for L-brackets or lossy and unreliable coax cables.
4 Audio Channels
Standard MVL D configuration includes 4 AES/EBU digital audio channels, but
any permutation of digital/analogue audio inputs/outputs is possible.
Remote Frequency Selection
Remote frequency selection can be made on both the 'RF Head' and the 'IF Control'
units with direct reading thumbwheels, providing a frequency agility of up
to 700Mhz, plus up to 12 programmable instantly accessed RF channels in band.
Engineers Order Wire
An intercom allows communication between RF head units and IF control units.
At the receiver head unit, the intercom can be switched to monitor an AGC
beep.
...accessories
A comprehensive range of accessories is available, allowing MVL D2 series links
to be installed in ENG vans and central receive sites, or even as permanent
fixed point to point microwave links. RF multiplexers are available for 2,
3, and 4 channel configurations, and changeover switches allow 1 + 1 hot
standby or diversity operation. |
